Three Mixed-Use Developments Launch Across 500 Acres Along Bastrop’s SH 71 Corridor

Three mixed-use developments totaling nearly 500 acres are advancing along the SH 71 corridor in Bastrop, bringing new retail, housing, and medical infrastructure.

Bastrop is experiencing a significant retail and mixed-use expansion along the SH 71 corridor, with nearly 500 acres of new development currently in the pipeline. Three major projects—Sendero, Burleson Crossing East, and Bastrop West—are driving this growth to support the area's increasing population and commercial demand. These developments aim to integrate dining, shopping, wellness services, and potential hospital infrastructure, reflecting a regional trend toward dense, mixed-use environments.

Sendero, a 75-acre project led by Houston-based Pearl River Companies, broke ground in April 2025 and is now under construction. While the full build-out is expected to continue through 2030, the site has already welcomed its first tenant, Chuy’s, which opened on May 18, 2026. Nearby, the 20-acre Burleson Crossing East is already operational with tenants such as LongHorn Steakhouse, Sprouts Farmers Market, and First Watch, a development projected to generate over 300 jobs and $1.4 million in annual tax revenue. Meanwhile, the city is evaluating proposals for the 400-acre Bastrop West, which may include a full-scale hospital, a hotel, and a convention center.
