The Plano City Council approved a rezoning request for AT&T's 54-acre headquarters campus, authorizing a 280-foot landmark communication tower.
AT&T has received unanimous approval from the Plano City Council to rezone a 1.4-acre portion of its planned 54-acre headquarters campus at 5400 Legacy Drive. The approval paves the way for the company to construct a 280-foot landmark communication tower, which city officials have likened to a miniature version of Dallas’ iconic Reunion Tower. The project is part of a massive corporate relocation that requires AT&T to invest at least $1.35 billion in construction and develop 2 million square feet of space.
The development site, formerly the home of Electronic Data Systems, is currently undergoing initial demolition of existing driveways and parking structures. Beyond the tower, the campus plan includes 2.3 million square feet of building space, a daycare facility, public green space, and multiple parking garages. The project, led by developer KDC with architectural design by Gensler and landscape architecture by SWA, remains subject to final approval from the Federal Aviation Administration. AT&T is expected to employ 10,000 workers at the site under a 25-year incentive agreement with the city.
