Northampton Solar and Office Upgrades Headline April-May Massachusetts Permit Activity

Building permits issued across Western Massachusetts in April and May 2026 include a $675,000 office renovation in Northampton and a $413,650 solar installation in Northampton.

Municipal building departments in Western Massachusetts issued a series of commercial and institutional permits throughout April and May 2026. Significant activity includes a $675,000 renovation project at the Nonotuck Mill office building in Northampton and a $413,650 solar panel installation at 280 King Street, also located in Northampton. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield secured a $334,355 permit for comprehensive roof and steeple restoration at their 101 King Street property.

Additional commercial activity spans several municipalities, with the City of Pittsfield permitting $418,989 for selective demolition and hazmat removal at 105 Wahconah St. Notable industrial and retail-related permits include a $71,315 project for battery storage structural pads at 425 Meadow St. in Chicopee, a $165,000 wireless communications facility installation at 1 West St. in Pittsfield, and a $105,000 solar array installation at 105 Fourth St. in Pittsfield.
