IFMA Boston hosts a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum of Science's Public Science Common redevelopment project in Boston on June 1.
IFMA Boston is hosting a site tour of the Museum of Science's ongoing Blue Wing redevelopment on June 1, providing an inside look at the new Public Science Common. The project transforms a portion of the museum into a flexible civic gathering space, which will feature 270-degree views of the Charles River and accommodate between 300 and 700 people using retractable seating and movable partitions.
The tour focuses on the complexities of construction within an active river environment on a dam and the integration of double-skin curtainwall technology. Furthermore, the redevelopment modernizes the 1970s-era Brutalist structure to improve accessibility through universal restrooms and updated circulation systems, while emphasizing resiliency and sustainability planning at the Charles River headwaters.
