By Colin Percy · May 14, 2026

Construction is officially underway on the new Micanopy Library in Micanopy, Florida, following a well-attended groundbreaking ceremony. The project, managed by Scherer Construction, will replace the town's current branch that has operated within the Micanopy Town Hall since 1973.

The new facility is designed to expand upon the library's long-standing history, which dates back to its 1959 inception in a doctor's waiting room. The upcoming building aims to provide modern amenities and increased space to support ongoing community programming and educational services for future generations.
