Orlando Science Center debuts the newly renovated 315-seat Dome by Dr. Phillips Charities on June 1 following a major technological overhaul.
The Orlando Science Center is reopening its reimagined dome theater, now named The Dome by Dr. Phillips Charities, on June 1. The comprehensive renovation replaces the former Dr. Phillips CineDome with state-of-the-art 8K laser projection technology, a new NanoSeam dome screen, and a 30,000-watt surround sound system. The space now accommodates 315 guests across redesigned seating and features eight Christie Griffyn projectors alongside 419 screen panels to improve visual clarity and sightlines.
Beyond the technical upgrades, the project includes a fully redesigned lobby equipped with an LED wall and automated concessions. The theater, which has operated within the Loch Haven Park facility since 1997, received funding through the museum's Unlock Science Campaign with support from several regional foundations and cultural organizations.
