The Alamo has reached a key construction milestone with the topping out of its new Visitor Center and Museum in San Antonio. The 160,000-square-foot facility is an adaptive reuse project centered on the historic Crockett and Woolworth buildings. Designed to house over 5,000 artifacts across eight distinct galleries, the museum will also feature a 4D theater and a 700-person event space with a terrace overlooking the iconic Alamo Church.

This development is a centerpiece of the broader $550 million Alamo Plan, which aims to reclaim the landmark's original 4.5-acre footprint and enhance educational programming. Construction is currently underway, with the structure expected to be completed in 2027 and open to the public by spring 2028.
