By Colin Percy · May 28, 2026

The Huntersville Town Board has approved the rezoning for Knox Crossing, a 44-acre mixed-use project located at the intersection of Sam Furr Road and Old Statesville Road. Developed by WLA Enterprises, the project includes up to 87,000 square feet of commercial space and 413 residential units, consisting of both apartments and townhomes. As part of the agreement, the developer will reserve 30 units for affordable housing for a 15-year term.

The project design centers on the Seam Trail, incorporating a linear park, a central green space, and a stage area. Recent plan updates include the addition of live-work units, the relocation of a planned grocery store to improve walkability, and the integration of a pedestrian tunnel under N.C. 73. The site is expected to serve as a high-intensity development hub aligned with the town’s 2040 Community Plan, capitalizing on its proximity to a proposed commuter rail station.
