Boston-based Wingate Companies is moving forward with plans to redevelop Trestletree Village North, an affordable housing community located at 794 Ormewood Ave. in Atlanta's Grant Park neighborhood. The developer intends to acquire the 21-acre Trestletree Village site, which currently consists of garden-style housing across two parcels, and relocate existing Section 8 tenants to the southern portion of the complex in Ormewood Park. The redevelopment proposal for the northern site includes the construction of three-story apartment buildings and a parking deck.

Wingate is seeking a letter of recommendation from the Grant Park Neighborhood Association to secure a $25 million Invest Atlanta grant to facilitate the project. While the developer maintains that no permanent displacement of residents is expected, the proposal has encountered resistance from local neighbors citing concerns over density, traffic, and the preservation of existing green space. The project currently remains in the planning phase as it navigates neighborhood committee reviews and zoning discussions.
