The University of Saint Francis opens a new $3.5 million health sciences facility at 1450 Salem Street in Lafayette.
The University of Saint Francis has established a new health sciences campus in Lafayette following a donation from Franciscan Health. The site, previously known as the Bill Long Medical Building at 1450 Salem Street and now rebranded as Our Lady of Lourdes Hall, will house associate degree programs in medical imaging and health sciences alongside bachelor's degree completion pathways. An anonymous $3.5 million gift supported the renovation and launch of the facility, which aims to address a regional shortage of trained imaging professionals.
Classes are set to begin with online prerequisites this fall, with in-person laboratory and clinical instruction scheduled for 2026. The facility will also serve as a second campus for the Leffler Academy, subject to accreditation, as the university reinforces its historical ties to the city. The initiative is backed by the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana and aligns with the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration's broader educational mission.
