SLTX Capital begins the $12 million conversion of the historic Scanlan building in downtown Houston into a 140-room Canopy by Hilton hotel on June 4.
SLTX Capital is set to commence construction on June 4 to transform the historic 11-story Scanlan building at 405 Main St. in downtown Houston into a 140-room Canopy by Hilton hotel. The project, which includes plans for an integrated restaurant and bar, is estimated to cost at least $12 million. Completion of the redevelopment is targeted for 2027.
The 96,699-square-foot property, originally built in 1909, was acquired by SLTX Capital in December 2024 following a deed-in-lieu of foreclosure. The site is situated within an opportunity zone and qualifies for both state and federal tax credits. Designed by D.H. Burnham & Co., the building remains a notable example of early steel-frame architecture in the city.
