428-Key Line Austin Hotel Scheduled for June 2 Foreclosure Auction

The 428-key Line Austin hotel faces a June 2 foreclosure auction following a $172 million loan default.

By Colin Percy · May 28, 2026

The Line Austin, a 169,586-square-foot hotel located at the intersection of downtown Austin and Lady Bird Lake, is scheduled for a foreclosure auction on June 2 in Travis County. The property, originally built as the Crest Hotel in 1965, was rebranded as The Line after being acquired by Sydell Group for $130 million in 2016.

The auction follows a default on a $172 million loan issued by JPMorgan in December 2023. Currently appraised at $168.9 million, the hotel's distress mirrors a similar event in January 2025, when the brand's Washington, D.C. location was also sold via foreclosure to lender Acore Capital.
