Six Flags Over Texas Begins Testing 309-Foot Tormenta Dive Coaster in Arlington

Six Flags Over Texas begins testing the 309-foot-tall Tormenta Rampaging Run, a record-breaking dive coaster in Arlington.

By Colin Percy · May 28, 2026

Six Flags Over Texas has initiated testing for its new record-breaking attraction, Tormenta Rampaging Run, at its Arlington theme park. Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, the giga dive coaster stands 309 feet tall and reaches speeds of 87 mph. The ride features a 285-foot beyond-vertical 95-degree drop and spans 4,199 feet of track. It is expected to set six world records, including titles for the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster.

The project anchors a new Spanish-inspired section of the park called Rancho de la Tormenta, which also includes a new restaurant, Cocina Abuela. Construction on the site, located along Interstate 30, has been ongoing for months, with track work reaching completion in March. The new ride replaces the former La Vibora roller coaster. An official opening date for the attraction has not been set, though it is expected to debut later in 2026.
