San Antonio International Airport opens the 37,000-square-foot Ground Load Facility as the first phase of its $2.5 billion capital improvement plan.
San Antonio International Airport has officially opened its new Ground Load Facility, a 37,000-square-foot expansion to Terminal A. This project serves as the inaugural phase of the airport's broader $2.5 billion capital improvement plan, known as Elevate/SAT, which focuses on modernizing infrastructure, runways, and terminal facilities to improve the passenger experience.
The new facility features ground-load gates, expanded passenger areas, and a federal inspection station to accommodate domestic and international travel, while incorporating aesthetic elements inspired by the San Antonio River Walk. Future components of the Elevate/SAT program include the construction of a new 850,000-square-foot Terminal C, featuring up to 18 gates, with an estimated completion date in 2028.
