Hutto City Council approves land acquisition and design contracts for the new Hutto Fire Station Number 1 near the Hutto Megasite.
The Hutto City Council is advancing plans for a city-owned fire department with the approval of a land purchase, engineering survey, and design contract for Hutto Fire Station Number 1. The project, which is being funded in part by the Hutto Economic Development Corporation, is slated for a location near the Hutto Megasite at the intersection of Hwy. 79 and CR 132. The architecture firm PBK has been selected to lead the station's design.
The development marks a strategic shift for the city as it seeks to establish its own emergency services to accommodate rapid local growth. Currently, fire protection in the area is provided by the Williamson County Emergency Services District No. 3, which has expressed concerns regarding the city's move to create a parallel, municipal fire system.
