Portman acquires the 1,073-key Westin Peachtree Plaza in downtown Atlanta with plans for a comprehensive renovation ahead of Super Bowl LXII in 2028.
Portman has finalized the acquisition of The Westin Peachtree Plaza, a 73-story landmark hotel in downtown Atlanta, via its newly formed Portman Hospitality Fund I. While Marriott International sold the asset, it will continue to manage the 1,073-key property under a long-term agreement. Originally designed and developed by firm founder John Portman Jr., the tower opened in 1976 and remains the tallest hotel in Georgia.
Following the acquisition, Portman plans to execute a comprehensive renovation of the guestrooms, public spaces, and meeting areas, with a target completion date set before the 2028 Super Bowl. This purchase marks the first investment for the fund, which focuses on repositioning large-scale hospitality assets across major U.S. markets.
