Milwaukee-based developer Pieper Properties is moving forward with plans to convert office space at The Mayer Building into 25 new apartment units. Located at 342 N. Water St. in the city's Historic Third Ward, the 1920s-era building currently features 60 existing apartment units on its second through fifth floors.

The project involves a 26,608-square-foot transformation of the property's seventh and eighth floors. Supported by $3.9 million in private financing, the conversion will be designed by Milwaukee-based Engberg Anderson Architects, with Butler-based Berghammer Construction serving as the general contractor.
