Midlothian-based homebuilder Mitchell Homes has expanded its footprint with a new design studio in the Waterford Business Center in Belville, located in the Leland area near Wilmington, North Carolina. The company invested over $700,000 to acquire the lot and $1 million to construct the 7,000-square-foot facility, which includes a 4,500-square-foot design studio and an additional space leased to a restaurant. The expansion is part of a broader growth strategy into North Carolina and South Carolina, targeting high-growth markets where the company serves customers building homes on their own land.

In addition to the Wilmington-area expansion, Mitchell Homes is planning a new 2,500-square-foot studio in Southwest Virginia, potentially in the Roanoke or Christiansburg areas, with an anticipated opening by the end of 2026. This move follows recent growth into Franklin and Montgomery counties and aims to meet increasing demand for the company’s scattered-site building model. Mitchell Homes reported $75 million in revenue last year, with 170 homes sold at an average price of $450,000.
