Capital Group will lease 196,940 square feet of office space at One Independence Center in Uptown Charlotte to support its regional expansion.
Capital Group has signed a lease for 196,940 square feet at One Independence Center, a 20-story office tower located at 101 N. Tryon St. in Charlotte. The firm plans to occupy approximately one-third of the 600,000-square-foot building to establish an Eastern time zone technology and operations footprint. This expansion is part of a broader commitment to invest $60 million and hire at least 600 employees in the area by 2031, with hiring scheduled to commence next year.
The project is supported by a $19.4 million state economic grant, supplemented by over $1 million from the city of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, contingent upon meeting specific investment and job creation targets. The property, originally opened in 1983 and renovated in 2023, is owned by Crescent Communities. Capital Group's relocation follows the departure of the Robinson Bradshaw law firm, which moved to the nearby Legacy Union building in 2025.
