The Minneapolis Planning Commission has postponed its vote on the proposed Democracy Center redevelopment at the former Third Precinct site.
The Minneapolis Planning Commission recently met to review several development proposals across the city, though action on the planned Democracy Center at 3000 Minnehaha Avenue and 3033 Snelling Avenue was delayed. The proposed project aims to redevelop the site of the former Minneapolis police Third Precinct building, but commissioners postponed the vote following public testimony from nearby business owners who expressed concerns regarding the proposed vacation of a local alleyway.
In other actions, the commission moved forward on several multifamily projects. Approval was granted for a new six-story, 90-unit residential building located at 3033 Blaisdell Avenue, a partnership between Project for Pride in Living and Noor Companies on the former site of a Wells Fargo branch. Additionally, the commission authorized a new five-story affordable senior housing development at 529 and 535 Logan Avenue North, alongside the approval of rezoning requests for a parking lot development at 2001-2007 Stevens Avenue.
