Libertas Academy Completes New Permanent Springfield Campus on Liberty Street

Libertas Academy Charter School completes its new permanent home on Liberty Street in Springfield after raising $3 million for the facility.

By Colin Percy · May 25, 2026

Libertas Academy Charter School has officially moved into its permanent home on Liberty Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. The school, which serves nearly 600 students in grades 6-12, transitioned from its original Chestnut Street location to a custom-designed facility developed through a partnership with a private developer. The project, which opened in March 2025, features specialty educational spaces including a gym, cafeteria, art room, weight room, music room, and library, funded in part by $3 million in private donations and foundation grants.

Following the success of its flagship campus, the school is currently exploring further expansion. Executive Director Modesto Montero-Forman, who founded the academy in 2017, is actively researching the education landscape in Hartford, Connecticut, with the goal of potentially opening a second school location by the fall of 2028.
