Joplin City Officials Advance Splash Park Construction and Municipal Facility Upgrades

The city of Joplin is currently constructing a new splash park and park upgrades in an effort to enhance public recreational amenities for the summer season.

By Colin Percy · May 26, 2026

The City of Joplin has officially opened the Schifferdecker and Cunningham Aquatic Centers for the summer season. While these two facilities are now operational, Ewert Park remains closed to the public as the city advances construction on a new splash park and additional park improvements. The city expects the splash park to be completed and ready for the 2027 swim season.

In addition to the construction projects, the city is hosting a community pool party on June 10 at the Schifferdecker Aquatic Center. The event, sponsored by organizations including The Salvation Army and the Joplin Fire Department, will feature free swimming, emergency vehicle displays, and complimentary refreshments.
