Jacobs has secured a sole-source engineering, procurement, and construction management contract for the Beacon Point AI data center campus in Nueces County, Texas. Developed by Hut 8, the multi-phase project is designed to support up to 1 GW of utility capacity, with the initial 352-MW phase backed by a $9.8 billion, 15-year triple-net lease. Jacobs will oversee phased delivery and integrated procurement for the campus, which is targeting initial energization in 2027.
The project recently underwent a redesign to increase IT capacity by 57% without expanding the physical footprint, utilizing NVIDIA's reference architecture to achieve higher rack-level power densities. While initially conceived for bitcoin mining, the site has been repositioned for hyperscale AI training and inference workloads. Hut 8 has already executed an interconnection agreement with AEP Texas and has commenced initial substation construction at the site.
