By Colin Percy · May 22, 2026

Fort Bend County officials have officially authorized the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to manage the development and operations of the upcoming 26-mile extension of the Grand Parkway. The project encompasses Segments C1 and C2, as well as the unbuilt portion of Segment D, stretching from south Sugar Land to State Highway 288 near Rosharon. The expansion is part of a larger 180-mile orbital highway plan intended to encircle the Greater Houston area.

In related local commercial news, the Walmart location in League City on FM 646 recently completed a series of facility renovations and held a grand reopening celebration. This project was part of a broader 2025 initiative by the retailer to renovate nearly 650 stores nationwide, including eight locations across the Greater Houston region.
