The Owl Icehouse is under construction at 519 W. State St. in downtown Garland, transforming the historic Jones Hardware site into a two-story restaurant and event venue.
Construction is underway for The Owl Icehouse, a new two-story restaurant and gathering space located at 519 W. State St. in Garland. The project involves the adaptive reuse of the historic Jones Hardware building, which was established in 1915, to create a venue featuring a scratch kitchen, private event spaces, and rooftop patio seating. Development efforts follow a May 2025 City Council approval to sell the property to the operators, Rae and Mike Luther, as part of the City’s Economic Development Strategic Plan to activate long-vacant downtown storefronts.
The venue is expected to draw over 150,000 annual visitors and will incorporate local memorabilia to pay tribute to the city's history. Construction is currently in progress, with completion anticipated by early 2026. The site aims to drive local economic activity through job creation and increased visitation to the Downtown Square.
