The Pullman Market adaptive reuse project transforms the historic Samuels Glass building into a 40,000-square-foot culinary hub in San Antonio.
The Pullman Market has officially opened in San Antonio’s Pearl Historic District, breathing new life into the former Samuels Glass building. Designed by architecture firm Clayton Korte, the project repurposes the industrial shell of the glass factory to serve as a mixed-use food hall and market. The renovation maintains the structure's original industrial proportions and character while consolidating interior infrastructure to create a flexible space for diverse vendors and restaurants, including the Sonoran-inspired restaurant, Mezquite.
The development emphasizes architectural stewardship by preserving historic features like original openings for natural ventilation and daylighting. The project was brought to life through a collaboration between Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group, Oxbow Development, and the Historic Pearl. By integrating a farm-to-table supply chain into the adaptive reuse framework, the market functions as a critical cultural anchor for the district, designed to support daily community use and long-term sustainability.
