Consolidated Grain and Barge (CGB) breaks ground on a $47 million expansion at the Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon to triple soybean processing capacity.
Consolidated Grain and Barge (CGB) has commenced construction on a $47 million expansion at the Ports of Indiana-Mount Vernon, marking the largest investment at the facility in over two decades. The project is designed to triple the company’s grain handling capacity for its soybean processing operations, which currently process approximately 50 million bushels of soybeans annually.
The development includes the construction of new grain storage, truck unloading infrastructure, and an integrated conveyor system. Once completed in 2027, the project will increase storage volume by 4.25 million bushels and improve truck unloading capacity by 200 percent. The new system aims to eliminate the need for truck repositioning, thereby reducing port congestion and transportation costs for local agricultural producers.
