Developers Lawrence Group and Logic Builders Group are renovating a 2,000-square-foot historic train depot in downtown Buda into a retail marketplace and community event space.
The city of Buda is repurposing its historic train depot into a retail business incubator known as The Depot on Main. The project aims to support local entrepreneurs by providing below-market-rate retail space and a "crawl, walk, run" pathway for business growth, allowing participants to test products and establish a consumer base before transitioning to full-market-rate storefronts. The facility will be reserved primarily for graduates or current enrollees of the Buda HIVE Cohort training program.
Interior construction is scheduled to begin in late May 2026, with site work to follow. The project is expected to reach substantial completion by the end of October 2026 and become fully operational in the first quarter of 2027. The city is partnering with the Buda Economic Development Corp. on the initiative to boost local downtown retail activity, with the city assuming responsibility for site maintenance upon completion.
