BorgWarner plans a $100 million expansion at its Hendersonville manufacturing plant, adding 140,000 square feet and 378 new jobs.
BorgWarner is expanding its manufacturing operations in Hendersonville, North Carolina, with a $100 million capital investment. The project will add 140,000 square feet to the company’s existing facility and is expected to create 378 new jobs with an average annual salary of $67,047. The expansion is partially supported by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) from the state, which provides for potential reimbursements of up to $3.68 million over a 12-year period, contingent upon meeting specific job creation and investment milestones.
This growth initiative aims to bolster the regional manufacturing sector and is projected to contribute roughly $1 billion to the state economy over the grant term. BorgWarner, a long-standing automotive supplier, intends to utilize the added space to accelerate the development and production of new mobility technologies. The project represents a significant increase in the company's local footprint, which currently serves as one of its many global manufacturing hubs.
