JetZero plans a June 15 groundbreaking for its 8-million-square-foot aircraft manufacturing facility at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro.
Aviation startup JetZero is set to begin construction on June 15 at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro. The project, which represents a $4.7 billion investment, will span 8 million square feet and serve as the production site for the company's Z4 aircraft, an advanced jet designed for 50% greater fuel efficiency. The facility is expected to manufacture up to 20 aircraft per month using digital and AI-driven processes.
The development occupies nearly 1,000 acres at the airport, including the site of a former public golf course near Interstate 73. While construction timelines have been slightly adjusted due to state budget delays, JetZero maintains its commitment to creating 14,564 jobs over the next decade. The company recently received approval from the state's Economic Investment Committee to modify its hiring targets, pushing its initial employment milestone to 1,438 workers by the end of 2028.
