Amkor Technology earns top North American deal honors for its $7B semiconductor packaging and test campus expansion in Peoria.
Site Selection Magazine has designated the Amkor Technology project in the Peoria Innovation Core as the top economic development deal in North America. The recognition follows Amkor’s decision to increase its capital investment in the facility from an initial $2 billion to $7 billion. The expanded semiconductor packaging and test campus is expected to generate approximately 3,000 high-wage jobs with an average annual salary of $90,000.
This investment is part of a broader trend of semiconductor manufacturing growth across the United States, bolstered by the federal CHIPS and Science Act. That legislation has contributed to nearly $53 billion in total domestic investment within the semiconductor research and manufacturing sector.
