American Tungsten & Antimony Plans $287M Processing Plant in Cedar City

American Tungsten & Antimony plans to invest $287 million into a new antimony processing facility in Cedar City to bolster the domestic critical mineral supply chain.

By Colin Percy · May 22, 2026

American Tungsten & Antimony has announced plans to develop a new antimony processing facility in Cedar City, Utah, as part of a strategy to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign-controlled mineral supply chains. The project is expected to create 400 jobs and represents an investment of over $287 million over the next nine years. The facility will process antimony concentrate into materials utilized in defense, energy storage, and advanced electronics, with development supported by a post-performance tax incentive from the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

The initiative is integrated with the company's resource development efforts near the town of Antimony in Garfield County. The project is currently in its early planning and phased development stages, with the company emphasizing a low-impact, environmentally responsible approach to processing. The facility marks a significant step toward domestic production for a mineral currently lacking primary U.S. output.
