Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport has received an $8 million federal grant from the FAA’s Airport Terminals Program to support the modernization of its Concourse E facility. This latest funding brings the total federal investment in the project to $21.5 million since 2025, with the remaining balance of the $95 million budget sourced through airport revenue and bonding.
Construction on the new international concourse, which is designed to replace an international arrivals terminal shuttered in 2016, began in September 2025 under the guidance of general contractor Findorff. The project is expected to be completed in late 2027, with airport leadership noting that the improvements will facilitate expanded domestic and international air service options.
