Chippewa County Administrator Andy Albarado has unveiled a $18.3 million capital improvement plan for 2027, aimed at funding a series of county-wide infrastructure and equipment upgrades. The proposal, which is slated for review by the Chippewa County Executive Committee on June 2 and the full County Board on June 9, will be financed through a combination of $4 million in sales tax, $2.1 million in reserves, $3 million in borrowing, and $8.3 million in various grants.

The majority of the funding, totaling over $14.5 million, is earmarked for road and bridge projects, with an additional $1.55 million allocated for highway department machinery. Other planned expenditures include $455,000 for IT device replacements, $175,000 for courthouse repairs, $165,000 for new body-worn cameras, $120,000 for a snowmobile bridge replacement, and $80,000 to replace sheriff’s department firearms.
