UK HealthCare moves forward with a $580 million utilities infrastructure project to support future expansion of the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital.
The University of Kentucky (UK) has received approval for a $580 million public-private partnership (P3) aimed at upgrading the campus utilities infrastructure. This foundational project, which includes a new central utility plant and an improved distribution system, is designed to support the planned expansion of the Albert B. Chandler Hospital, as well as several other major campus capital developments.
UK has selected Kentucky Infrastructure Partners to design, construct, and operate the utility systems. The project was recently cleared by the Kentucky Legislature’s Capital Projects and Bonds Oversight Committee, with work expected to proceed in phases as final agreements are settled.
