U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co. plans a 270,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to create 200 new jobs.
U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co. (USSTC), a subsidiary of Altria Group, has announced plans to shift production from its Nashville operations to a new 270,000-square-foot facility in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The project, which is currently in the planning stage and pending incentive approval, aims to consolidate manufacturing while creating over 200 new jobs. The new plant will be built on an existing campus and will feature modern manufacturing machinery to support brands including Copenhagen, Skoal, Husky, and Red Seal.
Operations in Nashville are expected to conclude by early 2028 as the company expands its Kentucky footprint. The initiative has garnered support from local and state leadership, including Gov. Andy Beshear, who emphasized the impact of the investment on the regional economy. USSTC currently employs 165 individuals at its existing Hopkinsville tobacco leaf processing and dry flour plant, and this expansion is expected to approximately double the company's local workforce.
