The Wakaŋ Típi nature sanctuary has officially opened its new visitor center in St. Paul. The 27-acre site, located just east of Lowertown, has been undergoing rehabilitation for two decades after being reclaimed from railroad use by the community. Its name, Wakaŋ Típi, carries significant cultural meaning, translating roughly to the “dwelling place of the sacred” in Dakota.
