Spurs Sports & Entertainment Taps Overland and Marquee to Lead Downtown Arena Development

Spurs Sports & Entertainment selects nine firms, including Overland International and Marquee Development, to lead its proposed downtown San Antonio arena and mixed-use district.

Spurs Sports & Entertainment (SS&E) has assembled a team of nine firms to oversee the planning, design, financing, and development of a new downtown arena and surrounding mixed-use district in San Antonio. The development is envisioned as a multifaceted project featuring retail, hospitality, and community-focused spaces alongside a new, culturally reflective arena designed to host year-round programming.

The project team brings together national and local expertise, including Overland International as the arena architect, Marquee Development as the real estate lead, and Sasaki as the master district planner. Engineering and financial support will be provided by Pape-Dawson, CAA ICON, Stafford Sports, Goldman Sachs, Hunton Andrews Kurth, and Jorge Rodriguez Financial Consulting. The effort aims to blend national industry experience with local insights, led by the SS&E investor group under Managing Partner Peter J. Holt.
