Shining Stars Daycare officially opens a new childcare facility at 9599 HWY 805 in Jenkins following the completion of the SOAR accelerator program.
Shining Stars Daycare has opened its doors in Jenkins, Kentucky, providing a new childcare option for local working families. The project was developed with the support of the Social Enterprise Accelerator (SEA) program, an initiative led by SOAR designed to foster community-driven solutions and strengthen regional workforce participation. The facility is specifically aimed at addressing the shortage of affordable and reliable childcare, which is a significant barrier to employment and career advancement in Eastern Kentucky.
The new center serves children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, offering full-time, part-time, and Saturday care options. Operating hours extend from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturdays. Families may be eligible for reduced rates through programs such as CCAP or KTAP, with some qualifying costs as low as $45 per week.
