Officials issued a tower crane permit for the $750 million, 22,000-seat McDonald’s Park stadium in Chicago’s The 78 development.
A tower crane permit has been secured for the construction of McDonald’s Park, the new $750 million home for the Chicago Fire FC soccer team located at 1331 S. Wells within The 78 master-planned community. Designed by Gensler, the open-air stadium will feature a 22,000-seat capacity, a natural grass pitch, and a signature brick and steel facade meant to echo Chicago's industrial history.
Following the completion of foundation work and a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this year, the latest permit allows general contractors Pepper Construction, GMA Construction Group, and All Construction Group to begin vertical construction. The venue, which will host sports, concerts, and community events, is expected to open in time for the 2028 MLS regular season.
