Opus has broken ground on an 80,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing compounding center for Continental in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
Opus is currently overseeing the construction of an 80,000-square-foot expansion at the existing Continental (ContiTech) plant in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. The new compounding center will integrate production, warehouse, and office operations to support the company's hose and belt business, featuring a specialized three-story mixing facility designed for vertical manufacturing processes, an automated high-bay warehouse, and a 4,250-square-foot office and lab space. The project is set to be completed in June 2027.
To manage the facility's substantial load requirements, Opus utilized a precast concrete system rather than the originally planned structural steel. The design includes infrastructure for a 35-ton bridge crane and automated guided vehicle systems. A critical project milestone is scheduled for this fall to prepare for the arrival of specialized mixing equipment from overseas.
