The Ontario International Airport Authority has unveiled a significant modernization and expansion plan to accommodate rapid passenger growth, which saw 7.1 million travelers pass through the airport last year—a 27% increase over 2019 levels. The project includes the construction of a new 650,000-square-foot terminal located between the existing Terminals 2 and 4, which will also undergo renovations.

Additional improvements include a new six-story parking structure on the north side of the terminal complex, a car rental support facility, a federal inspection station, and a central utility plant, alongside various taxiway and roadway upgrades. The authority expects to complete all components of the expansion within the next 10 years, though final budget estimates and specific timelines for individual phases are still being determined.
