Middletown opens the new $3 million Monsoon Bay Water Park, the city's first public pool facility since 2009.
The city of Middletown has officially opened Monsoon Bay Water Park, marking the return of public aquatic facilities to the city for the first time since 2009. The project was made possible through a partnership with the Atrium Family YMCA, with Middletown contributing $3 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds to support construction.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Atrium Family YMCA will manage daily operations and staffing at the facility. Residents are eligible for discounted entry rates—$5 for children and $10 for adults—as part of a 20-year pact. The opening arrives at a time when many neighboring municipalities, including Franklin, have faced challenges maintaining aging aquatic infrastructure due to rising operational costs.
