M&R Development Starts Construction on 51-Unit The Dash Apartments in Freeport

M&R Development has officially commenced construction on The Dash, a three-story residential complex in Freeport, Maine. Located at the corner of Depot and Mill Streets near Main Street, the project will feature 51 apartment units, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans, along with 51 parking spaces. The development is the first of two planned housing projects aimed at increasing density and vitality in the village center.

The project was spurred by Freeport’s efforts to update its 2025 Comprehensive Plan, which identified Depot Street as a primary zone for high-density residential development to counter declining village population counts. Construction on the site, formerly a parking lot, is expected to conclude with the first move-ins scheduled for spring 2027.
