By Colin Percy · Feb 11, 2026

The replacement West Charlotte High School campus in Charlotte, North Carolina, was completed in August 2022 to provide a modern educational environment while honoring the institution's historic legacy. The $103 million project includes 100 classrooms, a 750-seat auditorium, and extensive athletic facilities, including a football field, indoor pool, and two gymnasiums. Architectural firm LS3P designed the facility with a narrative focus, utilizing custom-colored masonry units at the entryway to symbolize the school's heritage.

Beyond general instructional spaces, the campus features specialized trade classrooms for cosmetology and culinary arts, an audio-visual lab, and a career center. The project, which involved significant community engagement beginning in 2019, successfully integrates historic artifacts from the original 1938 school site into the new facility.
