By Colin Percy · May 26, 2026

The Village of Northbrook has initiated construction on a new, fully electric Fire Station 11, a project valued at approximately $22 million including land acquisition costs. The new facility will replace a 1971 structure that officials noted has reached the end of its useful lifespan and suffers from significant structural and operational limitations.

The project, designed by FGM Architects and built by Leopardo Construction, features four apparatus bays, a decontamination room, a hose tower, and a storm shelter. To align with the Village’s Climate Action Plan, the facility will utilize geothermal heating and cooling systems and is designed for future solar energy integration, prioritizing both environmental sustainability and enhanced living quarters for personnel.
