Joel Alford has opened Field Trip, a new $100,000 bicycle shop located in the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond.
Owner Joel Alford has launched his second bicycle retail concept, Field Trip, at 2225 E. Clay St. in the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond. The new storefront, which occupies a space previously tenanted by other bike shops, represents an investment of up to $100,000 including inventory and interior buildout.
Unlike Alford's first location, ReCycles on Cary Street—which specializes in refurbished parts and custom builds—Field Trip focuses exclusively on new bicycle sales, accessories, and apparel. The shop carries brands including Bianchi, Linus, and Kona, with a service model designed to support both urban commuters and bikepacking enthusiasts. The store is currently operating under a five-year lease.
