New York State is awarding $18.7 million in revitalization funding to 23 projects across Canandaigua, Brockport, and Phelps to support downtown infrastructure and housing.
The Finger Lakes region is set to receive $18.7 million in state funding through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative and NY Forward program. This investment supports 23 community-driven projects, including $10 million earmarked for 10 initiatives in Canandaigua, and $4.5 million each for development efforts in the villages of Brockport and Phelps.
Funding for these projects focuses on a mix of streetscaping, historic preservation, public space improvements, and new housing construction. Notable projects include the revitalization of the Phelps Hotel, canal-front workforce housing in Brockport, and residential rehabilitations along South Main Street in Canandaigua. These awards aim to stimulate local economic growth and improve neighborhood accessibility for residents and visitors.
