FCL Builders Breaks Ground on 788K SF Industrial Facility at Plainfield Business Center

Trammell Crow Company breaks ground on a 788,320-square-foot speculative warehouse facility at the Plainfield Business Center in Plainfield, Illinois.

By Colin Percy · May 26, 2026

Trammell Crow Company has officially broken ground on Building 2 of the Plainfield Business Center in Plainfield, Illinois, situated approximately 40 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. The new 788,320-square-foot speculative warehouse is located at 26230 W. 143rd St. and is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2027. The 46-acre site is designed with 40-foot clear heights, 80 dock doors—expandable to 156—and 211 trailer parking stalls, leveraging proximity to Interstates 55 and 80.

This project follows the successful delivery of Building 1, which also spans 788,320 square feet and is currently fully leased to RJW Logistics Group. Upon final completion, the entire Plainfield Business Center master-planned industrial park is expected to encompass over 8 million square feet across more than 600 acres. CBRE’s Matt Mulvihill and Phil DeBoer are handling the marketing for the new building, while FCL Builders serves as the general contractor, with design work provided by Harris Architects and Kimley-Horn and Associates.
