Port KC is reviewing a series of development proposals, including a $39M apartment complex in the Northland and a $50M bond request for a manufacturing expansion.
The Port Authority of Kansas City Development Committee recently reviewed several development and infrastructure initiatives. Among the projects is the proposed Brighton Crossing Apartments, where developer Sunflower Development Group is seeking up to $39 million in bond financing for a 161-unit, four-story residential complex in the Northland area near Interstate 435 and Missouri Highway 152. The committee recommended approval for the project, which includes a $500,000 contribution to the city's housing trust fund.
Additionally, the committee reviewed a proposal from Custom Truck One Source Inc. to issue up to $50 million in bonds for the renovation of a 174,000-square-foot facility at 4343 Clary Blvd. and related rail infrastructure upgrades. This expansion is projected to create 300 jobs. Port KC is also pursuing a $90 million federal grant for a flyover bridge project at Lydia Avenue to improve transit safety and riverfront connectivity, while simultaneously evaluating a separate, unspecified proposal for an AI factory and research facility.
